About Jimmy

DJ Jimmy Harris   Experience that matters

Jimmy's love of music began at the age of 6 when his mother sat him down at their piano and taught him some of the basics. Shortly after, he began his formal training with a local piano teacher and discovered that it was something that was engrained in him since birth.

Through the years, he experimented with different instruments and developed an affinity for many of them - guitar, banjo, saxophone, drums and singing. He also found his place in the music world through performing in his local church, the school band and with quite a few bands in the Mid-South. His musical range spanned from classic country, jazz, rock 'n roll, pop and gospel.

After spending hundreds of hours in his bedroom researching musical styles, recording artist biographies and catalogs, record producers, studio recording, sampling and performance styles, he laid the groundwork for what was to be a long and fruitful career in the entertainment industry. He has always been such a huge fan of all types of music, so DJing was simply a perfect fit for his skill set.

Jimmy's entertainment experience is fortified with just about every aspect imaginable. He has toured the United States, Canada, Europe and Mexico more than once and has had the honor to work with some of the most influential names in music. Producers Bob Marlette (Saliva, Rick Springfield, Shinedown & Ozzy Osbourne), Malcolm Springer (Matchbox 20 & Greenwheel), Willie Pevear (Johnny Cash & Bonnie Raitt), Roland Janes (Jerry Lee Lewis), Jerry Phillips (son of the legendary Sam Phillips of Elvis Presley fame) and Pete Matthews (Evanescence) are among some of the industry professionals he's recorded with. He has been featured in two MTV videos and has released several albums that have received much critical acclaim and high rankings with dozens of markets across the USA. He is currently working with two separate original music recording projects with Nick Cannon (Backstreet Boys) and Paul Crosby (Saliva), and these projects are scheduled for worldwide release by the beginning of 2009.

After DJing for a friend at a private event in 2001, he decided that it was something he wanted to do full time. Combining his love for all styles of music, his knowledge of mixing and recording and his thirst for live performance, it was obviously a step in the right direction.

Now, after 7 years of DJing wedding receptions, private and corporate events, clubs and public functions, Jimmy has come into his own as one of the most popular entertainers in Memphis and the Mid-South area. With hundreds of acclaimed events under his belt, Jimmy's skills have been sharpened to the point of excellence. His attention to detail and his focus on every client's individual visions and needs have been the keys to his popularity.
