MILLS E. BARBEE

Born March 30, 1946, in Memphis, TN, and grew up in Hernando, DeSoto County, MS, where he graduated from Hernando High School in spring of 1964. Graduated from University of Mississippi with Bachelor of Public Administration in fall of 1969. Received Juris Doctor degree in January 1972 from Mississippi College School of Law (formerly Jackson School of Law). Admitted to practice law in Mississippi in April, 1972 and served as law clerk for Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Stokes Robertson from July 1, 1972, through June 30, 1973.

Associate, and then member, of Walker, Franks, Rone, Bridgforth and Woods law firm in Hernando, MS

1978 and became partner in Ballard and Barbee.

June 1980 elected County Court Judge of DeSoto County and took office July 1, 1980, presiding over youth court youth court cases, eminent domain cases, civil cases, criminal cases, and others.

Retired from that position December 31, 2006 January 2, 2007 began practicing law with Myers Graves, PLLC,. Member of DeSoto County and Mississippi Bar Associations.

During the time he was Judge, he chaired the Conference of County Court Judges for a two year term. Spoke to New Judges Seminar 2002 and 2006 on subject of Eminent Domain. Received Commissioner's Award from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, April 21, 2005, for service in prevention of child abuse and neglect. Received the Most Distinguished Juvenile Justice Professional Award form the Mississippi Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee.
